Satellite Images Show Seven Tankers Loading Iraqi Crude at Once
Recent satellite imagery revealed a significant spike in crude oil loading operations at Iraq’s primary Persian Gulf export terminal.

Satellite data recently identified seven crude oil carriers docked at Iraq's offshore export sites, signaling a notable rise in activity. According to reporting from OilPrice.com, these vessels possess a total transport capacity of approximately 13 million barrels. This volume represents a major increase compared to the previous weeks, where observation usually showed only one or two ships at the facilities.
Independent tracking services confirmed the identification of 13 million barrels being loaded at the Al Basrah Oil Terminal. While this level of activity was common before regional conflict when six tankers often occupied available berths, current flows have generally remained lower. The spike in loading represents a "one-day snapshot" rather than a confirmed return to historical export averages.
Despite ongoing regional maritime disruptions, Iraq has maintained stronger export momentum than its neighbors, recently reporting daily outflows of 2 million barrels. Refineries in China have shown consistent demand for specific Iraqi crude grades as other regional supplies tighten. However, analysts note that these loaded volumes must still navigate the Strait of Hormuz to reach global markets.
