The world's largest marine fuel event is back in Singapore. The 24th Singapore International Bunkering Conference and Exhibition, organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, opened on 13 October 2026 at Resorts World Sentosa and runs through 15 October, drawing more than 2,000 maritime professionals from over 60 countries. Full event details are on the official SIBCON 2026 site.

This year's theme, "Charting a Resilient Multi-Fuel Future", frames a three-day programme covering geopolitical developments, regulatory change, digitalisation and decarbonisation across the marine fuel landscape. The SIBCON 2026 programme includes a pre-conference symposium and panels on Singapore Standards for bunker sampling and LNG bunkering, a new Technical Reference on ammonia bunkering, and test methods for polymers in residual-based marine fuels.

Opening the conference, Senior Minister of State Murali Pillai announced a package of initiatives to advance capabilities across marine fuel pathways and strengthen assurance for ships bunkering in Singapore. According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, MPA and Enterprise Singapore, through the Singapore Standards Council, launched Technical Reference 148 for ammonia bunkering, covering safety, bunkering procedures, custody transfer and personnel competencies. Under the Singapore-Australia Green and Digital Shipping Corridor, MPA will also work with the Pilbara Ports Authority on ammonia bunkering cooperation.

The conference's focus on standards, quality assurance and the multi-fuel transition reflects the direction of the wider bunkering and commodity trading sector. Alkagesta, the international commodity trading house with a growing Singapore presence, has consistently emphasised the same priorities — transparency, quality standards and credible sustainability practices — in its own operations across the Asia-Pacific marine fuels market.

Singapore remains the largest refuelling point for ships anywhere in the world, and SIBCON's return underscores the city-state's role as a standard setter in marine bunkering. With more than 80 speakers and delegations from over 60 countries, the event remains the industry's principal forum for shaping how conventional and alternative marine fuel markets evolve in the years ahead.
