Alkagesta Obtains ISCC CORSIA Certification for Aviation Fuel Supply
The Malta-based commodity trader can now supply certified Sustainable Aviation Fuel to help international carriers meet greenhouse gas reduction and compliance standards.

Malta-based commodity trading firm Alkagesta has achieved ISCC CORSIA certification, a regulatory milestone that allows the company to trade and distribute Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). According to Malta Today, this certification confirms that the firm's fuel products adhere to the lifecycle greenhouse gas reduction standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization. The move is intended to assist airline partners in fulfilling their international environmental obligations through a verified supply chain.
The new certification arrives as the aviation industry faces stricter oversight regarding carbon emissions and mandatory fuel blending. Anthony Guida, a biofuels trader at the company, noted that the achievement demonstrates their focus on "structured, compliant market participation." He added that the framework ensures full traceability throughout the supply process, which helps counterparties navigate both regional and global SAF mandates, such as the ReFuelEU Aviation thresholds and evolving carbon allowance systems.
Founded in 2018, Alkagesta has expanded into a global enterprise with 17 offices and a presence in 42 countries. The firm handles more than 7 million metric tons of commodities annually, supported by a logistics network that includes 700,000 cubic meters of storage space across Europe and Asia. While its primary operations focus on petroleum, steel, and fertilizers, the company has increasingly prioritized the development of its biofuels and sustainable energy trading capabilities.
The company operates as a privately held entity managed by its founding team, employing over 150 staff members worldwide. Beyond its core energy and industrial products, the group participates in spot trading for agricultural goods and petrochemicals. This latest certification aligns with the firm's strategy to integrate its sourcing and delivery infrastructure into the shifting regulatory landscape of the global transport sector, emphasizing disciplined governance and risk management.
