Baltic Dry Index Rises for 4th Day
Dry bulk shipping costs hit multi-week peaks on Tuesday as all major vessel segments saw rate improvements, marking four days of consecutive growth for the main index.

The primary dry bulk shipping gauge at the Baltic Exchange climbed for the fourth day in a row during Tuesday's trading. Hellenic Shipping News reported that the overall index grew by approximately 1.5 percent, reaching 2,926 points. This movement represents the highest level recorded for the benchmark since mid-August.
Significant gains were noted in the capesize sector, which handles large shipments of coal and iron ore. Rates for these 150,000-ton capacity vessels rose by 2 percent to hit a two-week peak of 4,735 points. This increase mirrored the four-day upward trend seen in the broader dry bulk market.
Performance among mid-sized and smaller ships also remained positive. The panamax index, which monitors vessels transporting grain or coal, climbed 2 percent to 2,166 points during its third straight winning session. Meanwhile, the supramax index for smaller carriers saw a marginal gain of 0.1 percent to finish at 1,643 points.
