Palmetto Railways announced the appointment of Tarek Ravenel as president and chief executive officer. The move by the state-owned transportation company is effective Sept. 8, 2026. RoadOne expands Port of Charleston operations with acquisition

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics announced it has acquired Higgins Transport Service, a Charleston, South Carolina-based provider of port drayage and intermodal transportation services. The deal adds 15 drivers to RoadOne’s Charleston operations along with additional drayage and intermodal capacity to serve the Southeastern market. Financial terms of the transaction were not provided. RoadOne recently opened a 384,000-square-foot facility in Summerville, South Carolina to serve the Port of Charleston.
