SpaceX has announced plans to invest $100 billion to construct a massive launch facility in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana. According to reports from gCaptain, the site is expected to become the largest of its kind globally, supporting thousands of flights every year. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the company aiming for an initial launch date as early as 2029.

The proposed complex will be situated on former industrial land previously owned by Exxon. The facility will feature five launch complexes, each equipped with two pads and a propellant farm. Additional infrastructure includes onsite power generation, propellant production, and housing for staff. Company founder Elon Musk noted the facility is designed to make spaceflight "as routine as commercial aviation," targeting missions to Earth orbit, the Moon, and Mars.

Louisiana officials highlighted that the state’s natural gas reserves and existing industrial workforce from the oil and gas sector were key factors in the site selection. The development is projected to create 3,000 direct positions and roughly 8,100 indirect jobs. To facilitate the project, the state is providing incentives contingent on meeting job targets, while SpaceX has committed to multi-million dollar annual payments to local taxing bodies.
