International commodity trader Alkagesta has reported record results for the first half of 2026, pointing to higher trading volumes, an expanding product range and increased activity across its international network despite unusually volatile conditions in global commodity markets.

Revenue for the six months reached $3.5 billion (around EUR 3 billion), which the company describes as its strongest half-year performance to date.

On the basis of current trading activity, Alkagesta expects full-year 2026 volumes to exceed 10 million metric tonnes, up from 8.7 million metric tonnes in 2025.

Chief executive Orkhan Rustamov linked the performance to a deliberate, incremental approach to expansion. He said the results reflect progress made through a measured and disciplined approach to growth, and that despite significant volatility across global commodity markets the company has stayed focused on serving clients reliably and building the business on long-term relationships.

He added that Alkagesta intends to keep growing strategically, step by step, strengthening its presence in the markets where it already operates and ensuring its communication lines, capabilities and regional networks remain resilient.

The company said the half-year figures leave it on track against its 2026 strategic priorities. Those include a targeted entry into the crude market, a significant increase in jet fuel trading volumes, and further growth in storage and logistics capacity. Among the steps already taken is a multi-year lease signed earlier this year for biofuel storage at Pantank in Antwerp, which lifted total storage capacity across Europe and Asia to 700,000 cubic metres.

The results come against a backdrop of persistent volatility in commodity markets, driven in large part by continuing conflict and uncertainty in the Middle East.
