Commodity Trader Alkagesta Establishes New Strategic Hub in Singapore
The Malta-founded firm is expanding its global footprint by launching a new office in Singapore to facilitate commodity flows and trade finance across the Asia-Pacific region.

According to a report from AsiaOne, commodity trading house Alkagesta has launched a new operational hub in Singapore as part of its ongoing international expansion. Established in Malta in 2018, the company has grown from a regional trading firm into a global entity. The new Singapore office joins a network of existing hubs located in major financial centers including London, Geneva, and Dubai, positioning the firm at a key intersection of European, Middle Eastern, and Asian trade routes.
The firm specializes in structuring complex commodity transactions supported by robust risk management frameworks. By collaborating with 28 international financial institutions, Alkagesta utilizes letters of credit, insurance, and credit protection to facilitate large-volume trade flows. Chief Executive Officer Orkhan Rustamov stated that the move to Singapore is a commitment to operating at the heart of Asian trade where major decisions and commodity flows converge, while maintaining the company's established standards for transparency.
A central component of the company's operating model is its strict adherence to governance and regulatory compliance. Alkagesta has implemented a comprehensive sanctions framework involving rigorous counterparty screening and anti-money laundering protocols. Board member Pierre Gay noted that establishing a presence in Singapore serves as a test of the firm's credibility, demonstrating its ability to compete in one of the most demanding and highly regulated trading ecosystems in the world.
The expansion aims to apply European-level governance standards to the Asia-Pacific market, providing structured trade finance solutions to regional clients. By integrating its financial architecture into the Singaporean market, the company intends to reduce counterparty risk and drive sustainable growth. This strategic development follows the company's successful transition in Malta, where it utilized a disciplined approach to trade finance to build a reputation for reliability among international regulators and global banking partners.
