Kongsberg Maritime has finalized an agreement to equip a sophisticated deepwater installation ship for joint owners Solstad Offshore and SBM Offshore. According to Hellenic Shipping News, the vessel is under construction in China and is designed for high-performance subsea construction and heavy-duty offshore tasks in difficult environments. The ship is expected to enter service during the first half of 2029 following a development phase involving multiple design partners.

The technology package includes a wide range of systems such as dynamic positioning, bridge automation, and a power suite featuring batteries and generators. The vessel will utilize a propulsion setup consisting of twin shaftlines and azimuth thrusters to maximize bollard pull. Lisa Edvardsen Haugan, President of Kongsberg Maritime, stated that the integrated solution allows for "safer and more efficient offshore operations" by coordinating energy management with deck machinery.

A significant feature of the contract is the inclusion of what is anticipated to be the largest anchor-handling winch globally. This equipment will be powered by permanent magnet motors and integrated with the vessel's energy systems to prioritize power for critical functions. The deck equipment also includes a specialized launch system for remotely operated vehicles and heavy-duty lifting winches designed to manage extreme loads with precision.
